ESRI MOOC requirements
ENV 859 - Geospatial Data Analytics | Fall 2024 | Instructor: John Fay
Expectations
- Those of you selecting to complete the ESRI MOOC on Spatial Data Science in place of the Course Project will be expected to complete all materials of the course by Tuesday Dec 7th at 12:00pm.
- Sections 1 thru 4 of the MOOC will be available on-line before this deadline, but the remaining sections may have to be done off-line. Materials for those (and other) sections are available via a shared box drive here. (Note that these materials should not be distributed outside of this class.)
- To evaluate your successful completion of this MOOC I will be organizing exit interviews with each of you individually. The interviews will take place no later than December 9th, but can take place any time between berfore then. You will be contacted to arrange a convenient time and these interviews should not take more than 15-25 minutes.
The “Exit Interview”
During this interview, we’ll review your work on each of the 6 topics so that I can evaluate your understanding on each. The review will consist of the following:
- First, we will examine your MOOC dashboard to see that you completed the first 4 sections on-line.
- We will re-examine the quizzes for each section and discuss your answers on select questions. The expectation, then, is that you know the correct answer for each question and can justify your answer. (Note that quizzes are available for all sections in the above box drive share…)
- We will review the various workspaces and notebooks used in the exercises. For example, I will check to see that you have created the plots as the tutorials expected.
- You are welcome to access any material you want during this exit interview.
Scoring
- Simply completing all the material in the MOOC will earn you a passing grade (85/100 pts). This will be demonstrated in your on-line dashboard for sections 1 thru 4, and by showing ArcGIS Pro projects/Jupyter notebooks/AGOL maps created in completing section 5.
- Correct answers to section quiz questions will boost your grade (85 to 92/100).
- Your ability to explain/articulate answers to the quiz questions will boost your grade into a high A (93 to 100/100). For example, the last question in the quiz on section 2 asks about diagnostics for model performance. Can you not only identify the correct answer, but explain what the “prediction interval” or “R-squared” or “Out of bag errors” are?
